Action
Aid has been working in Nepal since 1982, with the mission to eradicate
poverty by facilitating the process of empowering the poorest and the
most excluded women, men, girls and boys. AAN changed its approach from
direct service delivery to partnership mode with local NGOs in 1996. Similarly
it adopted RBA in 1998 with the aim to creating an environment in which
poor and excluded can exercise their rights and address and overcome the
causes and effects of poverty caused due to injustice and inequality by
actively engaging themselves in all aspects of development activities.
Currently, AAN's long-term programs are implemented in more than 36 districts
where Nawalparasi is one of them.
SAHAMATI has made partnership with ActionAid Nepal to work for the right
holders in Nawalparasi District since January 2006. The program is to
enhance the food security situation of poor and marginalized community
by establishing their rights. The major right holders are traditional
inhabitants i.e. Bote, Majhi and Mushar of the district.
